About Christine Moore

I was born and raised in England and graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages. Before emigrating, I worked in the airline industry. I have been married to David for 24 years and we have 3 children, Emily, Georgina and Alexander. We have lived in Red Deer for 15 years. I am an active member in my Parish and my community.

I have served as a Trustee for Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools since 2004. In 2007 I was elected Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have supported me over the last six years. It has been an honour and a privilege to work in this wonderful school Division.

As a Trustee, I have witnessed the dedication and commitment shown by all staff in our school communities, day in day out, as they tenderly care for our students’ spiritual, emotional and academic well being. Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is blessed in so many ways.

Passionate about Catholic Education

In Catholic schools, we cannot separate faith from life. As we build people, we are building community. For this reason, Social Justice is a cornerstone of Catholic Education. Our school communities are called to share in the responsibility of the collective good. I believe this to be one of the greatest contributions that our schools make to society.

With a history of academic excellence, Catholic schools were considered so intrinsic to the fabric of Canadian society that they were constitutionally protected. This great gift of publicly funded Catholic Education must be cherished and promoted. As a Catholic Trustee, I will vigilantly discern, envision and interpret the legislation so as to ensure that it always recognizes the very essence of Catholic Education and its relevance to society.

A Proven Leader

I am extremely proud of the Board’s accomplishments over the last term. It has demonstrated consistent responsible governance and accountability including excellence in fiscal management. Alberta Education reports reveal the Division to be in a stronger position than ever. Our schools are known as safe and caring, delivering excellent learning opportunities all within an authentic Catholic environment. Our student academic results exceed provincial measures, a testament to the commitment of our educators and support staff.

When Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools celebrated 100 years of Catholic Education, it caused me to reflect on our past and consider our future. The legacy of those religious pioneers lives on in our 6700 students in the 18 schools we are so proud to call our own. My dream to commemorate this wonderful legacy became a reality when the Board launched the Education Foundation in 2010. I believe this initiative embodies the spirit of gratitude we have for this great tradition of Catholic Education. Long may it continue!

As a servant leader, I will continue to use my experience in building strong relationships with all stakeholders, especially governments at all levels, so that they will always recognize the good things that Catholic Education brings to all.

Being a Trustee has been one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences of my life. I respectfully ask for your support to continue serving Catholic Education in Central Alberta.
