Dianne Macaulay for Public School Trustee

CARPE DIEM
I am passionate about public education. Over the past six years of trusteeship. I have seen significant change at the provincial and local level . The government of Alberta is on the verge of opening up the School Act to legislate changes , I want to continue to be part of the transformation, locally and provincially to strive for excellence by inspiring learning and nurturing hope in every student.
I care about my community. I want to see the expansion of connections and collaboration to all sectors .
I care about democracy generally and local democracy particularly. Albertans have the ability to hold local elected officials accountable for local decisions.
To quote the Public School Boards Association of Alberta ,
“ Local elections should be an exercise in collective dreaming .” C’mon and dream a little dream with me. This is a great opportunity for Albertans to get involved in public education.
I care about taking responsibility . Teachers are responsible for inspiring students and helping them to learn. Parents are responsible for making sure students stay on track, to get your homework done, and to not spend every waking hour in front of the TV or Xbox. It is the governments responsibility for setting high standards , and supporting teachers and giving students the opportunities they deserve.
But at the end of the day , we can have the most dedicated teachers , the most supportive parents , and the best schools in the world -- and none of it will make a difference , none of it will matter unless all of us fulfill our responsibilities , unless the students show up for class, unless they pay attention to those teachers , unless they listen to their parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to success. This is the responsibility each of us have for your education .
Every single one of us has something to offer. And no matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee that you'll need an education to do it.
I have been married for 18 years. Don and I have three FABULOUS kids. Molli is at LTCHS. Jassmin is at HHHS . Duncan is at Eastview.
I am the Zone 4 chair for the ASBA
I am on the Standing Committee on the Foundation Program for the PSBAA
MY GOAL IS
to continue the dialogue between the community and School Trustees
by government and to be accountable in deciding how best to spend its money to get the best possibto responsibly manage the resources delivered le results for our students.
