I am excited and proud to be running for re-election to the Red Deer Public School Board.

I was first elected to the Board in 1995 and over the last 15 years I have been blessed to serve my community in the capacity of Trustee.

Personal Information:
• I am 53 years old.
• I have been a resident of Red Deer since 1976.
• I have been married to John for 34 years.
• We have three daughters and 4 grandchildren, all who live in Red Deer, with the exception of our youngest daughter who is currently away at university.
• We currently live in the Kentwood subdivision of Red Deer.
• I work full time, with flexible hours, as a graphic designer for a downtown printing company.

Trustee Experience:
• Fifteen years as Trustee with Red Deer Public Schools.
• I currently serve as Vice Chair of the Board.
• Chair of the CUPE Negotiating Committee.
• Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools.

Beliefs:
• I believe children are our future.
• Each child is special, unique and valuable.
• The greatest challenge of our public education system is to provide a quality education to a wide variety of students who each have individual needs.
• We must be pro-active in order to protect our local autonomy and the power of school boards in representing their communities.
• We must lobby the government for new schools to help address the over-crowding accommodation issues on the south side of Red Deer.
• We must be creative thinkers and problem solvers, never being afraid to try new ideas, but also balancing those ideas with what we know to be tried and true.
• Early literacy is the key to each child’s success.
• High school completion is a result of a strong education system - it is achievable for all students.
• Public education is a partnership - no one should be left out of the loop.
• Children are worth every ounce of effort we put into them. You can never ever give up on trying to help them find their way in this world. With loyalty, empathy, tenacity, love, prayer, and each other we can get through anything.
