Chris Stephan

Five generations of my family have called Red Deer "home" for good reason: we love this community. During these years, we've all witnessed tremendous growth and change, with the benefits and challenges that presents.

As our population grows past 100,000, it's critical that we as a community:

  • Significantly increase the Police Presence on our streets, and in the downtown core;
  • Develop and improve local Infrastructure and Public Recreation Facilities;
  • Strengthen the Parklands and Trail Systems, which make Red Deer so special and unique; and
  • Lead out in Green Initiative Sustainability.

Red Deer has been great to me and my family. I want it to be even better for our children.

Vote Today! - Chris Stephan

Today is a big day for all Red Deerians. I hope readers will take the opportunity to vote today. Polls close at 8pm. It has been a pleasure to talk with many of our residents during the past few months about ways that we can improve Red Deer. I hope our next council can better address our city's needs (reduce debt, crack down on crime and drugs) while preserving that which makes Red Deer so special and unique: our trail systems. If elected today, I will do my best to serve the city of Red Deer for the next 3 years. Thank-you for those who have confidence in me. I hope we will be celebrating tonight!

Chris Stephan - for City Council

Fluoride in city water

Hi.

If you are elected, and the question gets put to a council vote, will you vote AGAINST fluoride in our city water?

Thanks.

Chris Stephan - Against Fluoride in Red Deer's Water

Great question Neil,

I admit initially not knowing much about this topic but, after some research, this is my opinion:

  • We should not add fluoride to Red Deer's water.

After reviewing several sources both "for" and "against" adding fluoride to water, I have come to the following conclusions:

  • There is conflicting evidence regarding the benefits of adding fluoride to water,
  • There is conflicting evidence regarding the harms of adding fluoride to water,
  • There are alternative sources for those wishing to use fluoride, and
  • The many individuals and families in our community who are concerned about fluoride, should not be forced to use alternative sources of water.

Thanks for your question Neil. I hope you can appreciate that I took time to research the topic, and take a position. Voters deserve answers to their questions and concerns and I plan to make well-informed decisions if elected to council.

Best Regards,

Chris Stephan for City Council
