1. Description of Service

  • The purpose of this website is to provide a forum where candidates for Mayor, City Council, Red Deer Public School Board, and Red Deer Catholic School Board can present their campaign platforms and interact with community members in an online environment.
  • We provide a page for each candidate, but all the information is provided by the candidates themselves.  Red Deer Public Library cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information, nor does it endorse any candidate.
  • Members of the community are invited to ask questions and post comments on the candidates’ pages, and candidates are encouraged (though not required) to respond.
  • In addition to the candidates' individual pages, there will be a number of different discussion forums for everyone to participate in based on questions from community organizations and Red Deer citizens and from media coverage of election issues.
  • The goal is to promote positive, interactive dialogue between voters and candidates; the more community members participate by contributing to the forums, the more successful they will be. We encourage everyone to become involved in electionforum.ca – you have a voice, and we want to hear it!

2. Proper/Intended Use

  • This website is created and maintained in order to provide a link between the citizens of Red Deer and the candidates for Mayor, City Council, Red Deer Public School Board, and Red Deer Catholic School Board. Please be respectful of this website and its goals.
  • The website is intended for anyone with an interest in Red Deer’s 2010 Municipal Election or a desire to know more about it. Participation in the forums and on candidates' individual pages is encouraged, though everyone is invited to simply read through the existing dialogue between candidates and community members.
